Unfortunately a lot of independent artists don’t get this opportunity and there’s a lot of variables that factor in to that. What Is Independent?

Not all independent artists are created alike. You could be recording in your mom’s basement and considered an independent artist, just with limited resources. Then you have someone like Fat Joe…who is also independent but is a millionaire with multiple resources. Or, you could be somewhere in between, like IBgorealla, with above average resources…but not quite a millionaire yet. The good thing about being independent though, is that you control your destiny. How far you go and how rich you become comes from your own decision making!

The good news is that although FM radio is great exposure and can bring you some coin, there are alternatives for independent artists who want their music heard. There are tons of independent hip hop radio stations online that are dying to receive your music! It’s a two way street. You are helping them gain more listeners and they are helping you gain more listeners as well. There are plenty to choose from and some will even give you live feedback. One suggestion though, please submit quality material. There’s nothing worse than hearing a good song with bad quality. It will definitely be labeled with the dreadful P word…POTENTIAL.
